Difference/fade away-melt away
Message from zahra21 posted on 05-12-2013 at 07:49:10 (D | E | F)
Hello everyone,

I've been thinking about the difference between "fade away" and "melt away" for a month. Even advanced dictionaries couldn't help me that much.
Can anybody help me with that please?

Hello,

A colour will fade away.
Snow will melt away.
Both will vanish, disappear.

Hello,
In general:
Abstract, sensual things fade away e.g. colours, sounds, smells, love, beauty.
Real things melt away e.g. snow, crowds, traffic, money
Both verbs describe the same idea of a slow disappearing process.
